Autumn Winter jacket ideas
On recent shopping trips, I've been kitting clients out with Autumn ready items, which of course includes a jacket or two. Here are some of the ones I've bought with clients, so if you're looking for some inspiration, I've included various styles.
Think about the colour and whether it goes with most of the things in your wardrobe, how smart or casual it needs to be or whether it can cover both, and how much you're likely to layer under it ie: can it be worn with both a t-shirt and a chunky sweater?
And of course, if you'd like some help to seek out the perfect autumn wardrobe for you including a jacket, you can book a personal shopping trip with me here.
Neat and simple, this is the perfect Autumn jacket if you like to keep things streamlined. Put it on with cream cords and a sweater when popping out for lunch whilst working from home, or with a blue button down shirt and grey flannels when you step back into the office.
Zipped navy bomber jacket - Sandro - £439
A client bought this a month or two back to see him through the August showers (!) and into the Autumn months. You tend to get this style mac in navy or beige, so the khaki makes a welcome change. As ever, Mr Smith paid attention to details and added air vents in neon orange under the arms and a contrast stitched button hole. Wear it now whilst it's still mild, and then layer a Uniqlo padded gilet under it when it gets colder in the months to come.
Khaki green recycled polyester mac - PS by Paul Smith - £275
If you're not one for heavy winter coats but need something to throw on from time to time, then jump on the overshirt trend. You can style it over a t-shirt, layer on top of a sweatshirt or fine knit crew neck, or even put it over a hoody or roll neck sweater once we get deeper into winter. Choose colours to tone in with the check like light grey, khaki, salmon, or even burgundy. For more ideas and examples of how to style your overshirt, check this post out.
Navy 'Bernard' check cotton blend jacquard overshirt - NNO7 at Mr Porter - £240
Need something a bit more substantial and weather proof? This clever (and stylish) design has a piece in the middle that you can zip in and out, to allow an extra 4cm for when you want to layer more underneath. A great solution to the conundrum of whether to buy your jacket small enough to look good over a thin t-shirt or sweater or big enough for more chunky layers in winter. This way you've got the best of both worlds!
Black 'The Classic Twin Track' jacket - Private White VC - £795
Earlier this week, a client bought this lovely peacoat. I hadn't found many options, as stock seems late coming in this year, but no worries because this was "the one"!
The beauty of this particular design, is that it's long enough to cover a blazer or suit jacket. So if you find you don't have need for a full length winter overcoat, then this is the perfect all rounder to go with jeans and boots at the weekends or tailoring during the week.
Navy peacoat - Polo Ralph Lauren at John Lewis - £295
"Thank you so much for your email, and indeed for such a useful day last week! I'm delighted with everything that we bought (as was my wife), and I felt like it was a very successful day!
I'm not sure how many clothes your clients normally end up walking home with, but it was plenty for me given that I usually end up empty handed and depressed after shopping. There are also still lots of ideas in my head for places to go and things that I could get in the very near future (including all the bits on the attachment you kindly sent through). So, an enormous thank you!"
If you're wondering about what to wear as you go back into the office, need a general refresh of your wardrobe or have a specific event to attend, then get in touch if you'd like to take away all the hard work and have someone narrow down the selection in the shops for you!
